We are happy to roll out the next innovation in relevant link exchange: ResponseRank (beta). To learn more, visit http://linkpartners.com/responserank.html.
A bigger announcement is forthcoming with changes to the LinkPartners.com home page by September. For now we are in a beta testing period for our regular users. Check out http://linkpartners.com/responserank.html and then comment here.
We would like to know from you:
Do you think ResponseRank will help you exchange links with quality relevant sites in a more timely manner?
Do you have additional ideas and suggestions for ResponseRank?
enjoy!

I'd say my only negative with ResponseRank is that it was launched in the summer without much advance notice (at least I hadn't heard that it was coming). Because I was on holidays for 2 weeks around the time of the launch, our ResponseRank is in the crapper, even though I am normally very quick to respond to link requests.
You can see our pitiful response rate here:
http://linkpartners.com/cgi-perl/search.pl?userid=linkpartners&words=art+home&search_type=and&search_age=0&search_sort=name
Which isn't truly accurate, since we normally respond within a few days (with the exception of the last two weeks in August).
In fact, the launch page says...
"Webmasters who ignore link exchange requests from LinkPartners.com will see their ResponseRank drop over time."
Since it's only been live for a few weeks, how did my Response Rank drop so dramatically, so quickly??? And since the largest gap between request and response has been about 2 weeks, why are we a 0?
I know that - over time - it will improve, but it's a little hard to get out of a 0 Response Rank when people assume that this response rank means I don't respond to link requests.... JMHO

Paul,
Open up your swap permissions (if you are using LinksManager, thats in your control area under LinkPartners Preferences and if you are not using LinksManager, login here and then click SWAP PERMISSIONS) and temporarily allow link requests from any type of site.. this will generate more link requests to your site in a shorter period of time. Then respond accordingly and this will help to get your ResponseRank updating in a positive manner over the next few days. ResponseRank scores are updated nightly so sontact us if you dont see any positive change within a few days.

Can you give me an idea of how long is too long, as far as a response time?
The reason I ask is that the last time I logged in here was 10/4, but when I logged in tonight, I had a request that was sitting there from a linksmanager customer, and I never received an email about it.
My cable company uses MailScanner and the last request I had was emailed on 10/4 (and showed "Disarmed" in the title, and "possible fraud" in the body), so maybe that's an issue?
At any rate, I just want to be sure I receive the emails - everyone deserves a timely response, even if it is negative!
Don't want my response time going down the tubes due to life's little technicalities...:)

Keeganskorner,
The faster you response to the requests the higher your responserank will be. We obviously cannot publish the exact times that are calculated for each ranking level as that is internal information.
I would say people who want a high response rank should respond within a day or two. Waiting longer than a week can result in a lower ResponseRank.
The MailScanner could very well be affecting your receipt of the emails from LinkPartners. Since the email is sent out by www.linkpartners.com on the behalf of www.theothersite.com it triggers MailScanner to think it is fraudulent when actually it is not.
You will want to add "linkpartners.com" to your "White List". This may be something you need to contact your Internet Service Provider about. They may be able to help you add specific urls to your whitelist to prevent this is the future.
Hopefully this information helps to answer your questions. If you need further assistance please let us know.

When I got a message, it had the same thing about {Disarmed} and possible fraud. Never saw that before.
keeganskorner, did you ever find a way to ensure those emails are not delayed or blocked?
Lastly, just to clarify, a user that does not have a LinkManager account does not initiate a ResponseRank hit, correct? I manage my own link directory and just wanted to make sure I shouldn't be looking for some kind of request for confirmation that the sites I had submitted to have responded. In other words, my submissions do not contribute to the ResponseRank score?

allin,
Yes you are correct.
Only LinksManager users that initiate swaps with LinkPartners sites count towards ResponseRank. Since there is no way for us to acquire enough information from LinkPartners to LinkPartners exchanges we can only track LinksManager to LinkPartners exchanges.
On the MailScanner issue. Do you have a Whitelist? Somewhere where you can add the domain linkpartners.com to the list of friendly email sources? This would be a question to direct to the person who installed and runs the mailscanner for your site.
Hopefully that is helpful and not more confusing.

So... I just got the email from the forum about your response today... Not quite a year... but very delayed for some reason. Did you change something in the forum settings?
:)
Anyway, I have not had any problems since, and did add linkpartners.com to my whitelist. Thanks!

I have responded to all my emails the same day and my responserank is the same and has not moved up from 6. there is obviously some kind off problem as it used to update the position straight away.

Interesting, as we see your ResponseRank at 7, not 6. Responses are logged and sorry to disagree, but reviews of yours do not show all of your responses to have be made in the same day. A rank of 7 is great & puts your site into the rotation on LinkPartners.com front page, too.
I think having a "Response Rank" is beneficial to the program overall but it does little to no good if the same 8 sites are always listed on your front page (http://www.linkpartners.com/index.html). You may want to consider adding a random feature to this so ALL SITES with a "Response Rank" of 7+ see a turn in the front page module.
Also, it would be a terrific feature if you not only had a site thumbnail and link to the site but also a link to the sites profile at LinkPartners so they can benefit from increased link requests.
...in other words, dangle a carrot at the end of the line.

Not sure what you were seeing, but the ResponseRank sites shown on the LinkPartners.com front page are & have been in rotation since the beginning of this feature. Thank you for your suggestions.

When I hit page refresh it's always the same 8 sites listed in that block. Of course I'm assuming you have more that 8 sites in this program with a response rank of 7 or higher, if not then simply ignore my feedback.

The sites should update hourly. Although it may take longer sometimes. The sites listed are created by a LinkLet in the account. LinkLets are to be regenerated every hour; however, with as many sites in the LP database it may take much longer.
