I've been looking for more information on this site and wanted to know your thoughts. I understand that to be a publisher for them, you need at least 500,000 hits to your site per month, but I don't know what kind of revenue that may generate in terms of their hover ads. I believe a person would have to click on the ad in order to get credit, but what kind of credit? Is it like Adsense and more like a PPC/bid type deal for the advertisers?
Thanks!

IntelliTXT seems to me a great way to lose friends and influence people to leave your site.
Like so many other things, it is designed to trick people into viewing ads they probably don't want to see. What happens is you sign up and IntelliTXT analyses your pages and creates links some of the words in your content to its advertisers. (Depending on what version you use, the links may be identified by a double underline, green text or in other ways.)
When a person clicks on the link they go to an ad and you get a click-through commission.
On the plus side, it is non-invasive ... which is to say it doesn't put anything on the user's computer -- no cookies, in other words -- or take anything off it (no data mining.) So, to that extent, it is ethical.
On the other hand, it is really expecting a lot for the gerneral web surfer to be able to instantly realize that a word with two underlines is different from one with a single line. To most people, links are links and when they start getting ad pages when they expected to find information, they are likely to get annoyed with you and your site.
One thing I don't know is what, if anything, Google and other SE crawlers "think" about this kind of one-way, outward-bound linking. If anyone has that information, I'd like to read it here.

Agreed. I loathe IntelliTXT.
