I'm thinking of asking some of my link partners if they would like to trade blog links. Since I am in the service business (dentist) rather than sales, most of my link partner are other professionals -- some doctors, a couple of lawyers, oral surgeons, etc.

When writing my blog, I'm generally talking about professional topics, so it would be easy for me to include lines like ... "my orthodontist friend Bill Jensen says some of the new materials used for braces were originally developed by NASA ..." and put a hyperlink to Bill's site on his name?

Does this sound like a good idea or a dumb one?

This is a great idea!! and one of the reasons for the blogs in general. You can add new blog postings as industry specific information and include links to any other sites you would like. You could even point the URLs to your own site.

The main requirement in LinksManager LinkBlogs is that there is sufficient content to justify an external link. For example it would not be good if some users setup LinkBlogs that were just all other external links.

The more content you add to your LinkBlog posting the more URLs you will be allowed to add to that posting. More information on the content requirements of the LinksManager LinkBlogs is available here: http://linksmanager.com/knowledgebase/23.html#16 .

All in all if the Blog is beneficial to your end user and the link inside each blog is relevant to your industry and also beneficial to your end user it is a great idea!
